    “It currently holds the lap record for seven seaters at the Nürburgring. And for any family buyer in the market for a seven seat SUV wagon like this _(turns to look at camera)_ , that is really important” _Gives best deadpan stare._

    Skoda has come a long way, I am sure they are restrained by VW in a lot of respects but hats off to them, they sometimes put the parent company to shame in terms of style and practicality. Great review by the way!

    I know its been months already, my wife recently bought one as she wants something unique and rarely seen on road. Actually its really nice, my only concern is the 20” alloy wheels. Its just that if you are not carefull youll easily scrape it off specially on gutters.

    I went to check this cat in person with the wife. The exhaust on the driver side is fake and fell off when I touched it. The engine is ok but 0-100 in 7 seconds is not fast and regular suv models can beat it. Interior is amazing though and is very comfortable

    I cannot remember anyone being this hyped about a bloody SUV. Not sure what to make of it.

    Skoda has always felt like a brand of car I'd suddenly find appearing with the weekly specials at Aldi. I'm probably only partly convinced otherwise, interesting review nonetheless.

      Yeah, I think everyone probably thought that initially (including me), but the cars are that good that you drop that impression pretty quickly after spending time with one. -Tom

    Tiguan 162TSI is still a quicker by 0.5 seconds and stands at the same price! But I guess if someone wants a quicker diesel with more torque in the same segment then this is the one to go for.

    The video looks like been edited with some extra effects which makes the colours quite washed out. I wish it to be more realistic

    I really don't understand the whole RS / VRS thing. Well, I understand the reason for it and it's because Ford use "RS" in the UK, so we have to call it the "VRS", but as far as I know, all VRS Skodas have always had "VRS" logos on them, never just an "RS"? Why isn't it just called the "VRS" everywhere? There is a numberplate on the car in this video saying "Kodiaq RS", then the "VRS" badge is a few inches above it? 🤷😂 Literally makes no sense

    I thought the vw group was gradually phasing out their diesel motors. Hmmm

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад

      They are, in theory, but the gradual phase out will run into the 2030s...

    For that kind of money I rather get the BMW X5 M50d with quad turbo and 6 cylinders

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +3

      That’d have to be a high km preowned example...

    • @danielkell5617

      For that kind of money the car you described doesn’t exist, unless you’re happy with a 6 year old model with 100,000 kms on the odometer,

      @@chasingcars I don't think I've met a person that has liked it. So that's a big stretch.

      Dunno. Haven't driven the Kodiaq RS myself, but Ponch says there's something "not hateful" about it. Take from that what you will… -Tom

    Left wing and cool? 🤣 those two DON’T go together.
    Nice SUV/Crossover though but for similar money here in New Zealand I can get the seven seat Tiguan with the same motor (or you can get the 165kw petrol Golf GTi motor) in R Line trim and rightly or wrongly I think the Tiggy would possibly hold its value better then again the Kodiak RS would be a lot thinner on the ground so...

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад

      Each to their own, Sarge! I tend to agree on the depreciation front, but what I would really like to see is the Kodiaq RS with the 206TSI engine… -Tom

    • @NZsarge1
      @NZsarge1 5 лет назад

      206 Kodiak, doubtful. A 206 Tarraco on the other hand perhaps, word is theres possibly a Tiggy R coming so there may well be a performance Golf R engined Tarraco as well.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +1

      We don't get Seat in Australia so the Tarraco is a definite no here… and my sources tell me a Tiguan R is now off the cards for this generation. Sad! (I wouldn't mind a late surprise, though) -Tom

    • @NZsarge1
      @NZsarge1 5 лет назад

      Oh ok, about a week ago I had a long conversation with the Dealer principal and the local VW/Audi dealership and he alluded (important point he alluded, didn’t confirm) the there was a good possibility of a Tiggy R but perhaps I over read his words, pity though. He wasn’t sure if were getting the T-Roc R which should be an interesting little Crossover, hope we get that. They’ve only bought Seat back to NZ in the past couple of years.

    This is just a hard-named VOLKSWAGEN. Just one word for it: #Dieselgate

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 лет назад +6

      It's alright not to like it, but to be clear, the 2.0 TDI used in the Kodiaq RS isn't an engine that hails from the dieselgate period.

    • @johnnste1
      @johnnste1 5 лет назад +2

      Nobody gives a shit about dieselgate. The majority the major manufacturers were doing the same thing with their diesels.

    • @stevenagy88
      @stevenagy88 5 лет назад

      I hold no love for VW, but dieselgate is your typical mix of government incompetence (not enforcing regulation adequately) and ignorant consumers, who conveniently blame an anonymous corporation for the environment, instead of thoroughly reviewing their consumption habits and stupid commutes.
      Edited a typo.

    I was enjoying your enthusiastic and informative review until I heard the term “Left wing and cool”? May I suggest that if you’d like to retain your professionalism and credibility, please leave your politics out of it.
